Ein deutsches Amtsgericht hat ein Regelinsolvenzverfahren gegen den europäischen Marktführer für Schnurlostelefone, Gigaset AG, eröffnet. Damit stellt sich die Frage, wie - oder ob - das angeschlagene Unternehmen restrukturiert werden soll.

Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2788 of 11 December 2023 amending Decision 2013/184/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Myanmar/Burma.

The Council approved additional restrictive measures against one person and one entity responsible for actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inepeendence of Ukraine.

Der Rat hat eine Einigung über die Abschaffung der Kontrollen an den Luft- und Seebinnengrenzen mit Bulgarien und Rumänien erzielt.

Gastbeitrag anlässlich des 25. Jahrestags des Euro der Präsidentinnen und Präsidenten der EU-Organe Paschal Donohoe (Präsident der Euro-Gruppe), Christine Lagarde (Präsidentin der Europäischen Zentralbank), Roberta Metsola (Präsidentin des Europäischen Parlaments), Charles Michel (Präsident des Europäischen Rates) und Ursula von der Leyen (Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission).

Der Präsident der Italienischen Republik, Sergio Mattarella, hat das Gesetz für Markt und Wettbewerb verkündet. Er hat jedoch die Regierung von Giorgia Meloni und das Parlament um "kurzfristig notwendige Initiativen" gebeten, um "Konfliktaspekte" und "Widersprüche zum europäischen Recht" zu vermeiden.

EU-Chefdiplomat Josep Borrell beglückwünschte am Dienstag den neuen israelischen Außenminister Israel Katz. Borrell rief dazu auf, 2024 "entscheidende Schritte" zu unternehmen, um den Krieg in Gaza zu beenden und "Frieden [...] zu schaffen" zwischen Israel und Palästina.

Die EU hat am Mittwoch (3. Januar) das weltgrößte russische Diamantenunternehmen Alrosa und seinen Geschäftsführer Pawel Alexejewitsch Marinytschew auf ihre Sanktionsliste gesetzt. Die Sanktionen sind Teil der Einfuhrverbote gegen Moskau wegen des Krieges gegen die Ukraine.

Angesichts des Organmangels arbeiten Wissenschaftler intensiv an der Entwicklung von Behandlungen für Organfehlfunktionen unabhängig von menschlichen Spendern. Ein Beispiel hierfür ist die Verwendung künstlicher Organe, die mithilfe von Stammzellen entwickelt werden.
