Der französische Präsident Emmanuel Macron und sein kasachischer Amtskollege Kassym-Jomart Tokayev vereinbarten ein Rückführungsabkommen. Dies ist das erste Migrationsabkommen Frankreichs mit einem zentralasiatischen Staat.

Magnus Brunner, Österreichs Anwärter auf das Amt des EU-Kommissars für Inneres und Migration, steht vor einer entscheidenden Anhörung im EU-Parlament. Dabei wird er seine Pläne für die Migrationspolitik der EU angesichts interner Sicherheitsbedenken präsentieren.

Der Ire Michael McGrath erhielt die notwendige Zustimmung von drei Ausschüssen des Europäischen Parlaments, um der nächste EU-Justizkommissar zu werden. In seiner zukünftigen Rolle will McGrath entschieden gegen Verstöße gegen die Rechtsstaatlichkeit vorgehen.

Frankreichs stellvertretender Industrieminister Marc Ferracci forderte „Notfallmaßnahmen“, um Europas angeschlagene Autoindustrie zu stützen. Dafür möchte er auch die für nächstes Jahr vorgesehenen hohen Strafzahlungen aufschieben.

Die designierte Kommissarin für Start-ups, Forschung und Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva, erklärte, sie wolle sich auf weniger Prioritäten konzentrieren. Welche Prioritäten sie im Einzelnen setzen will, ließ sie jedoch offen, als sie von den Europaabgeordneten befragt wurde.

Der designierte Justizkommissar stellte sich in Brüssel Fragen zu Technologiepolitik und Rechtsstaatlichkeit. Vor den EU-Abgeordneten zeigte er sich entschlossen, demokratische Prinzipien und den Schutz der Bürger vor Bedrohungen zu stärken.

Der Däne Dan Jørgensen hat bereits eine beeindruckende Reihe von Titeln und Auszeichnungen gesammelt. Um den Posten des Energiekommissars zu übernehmen, muss er bei der Anhörung im EU-Parlament am Dienstag (5. November) jedoch Konzentration und Detailgenauigkeit beweisen.
