Der Rat der EU hat Schlussfolgerungen zur Rolle der Lehrkräfte im Zeitalter der künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) gebilligt, in denen ein ethischer, sicherer und auf den Menschen ausgerichteter Ansatz im KI-Bereich der Bildung gefordert wird.

Der Rat hat einen Beschluss erlassen, mit dem die teilweise Aussetzung des Kooperationsabkommens mit Syrien aufgehoben wird, was ein Zeichen der Unterstützung für den Übergang und die Normalisierung der bilateralen Beziehungen ist.

The Council adopted the decisions authorising the signing of the EU-Mexico Modernised Global agreement and Interim Trade Agreement, advancing political cooperation, trade partnership and sustainable development between the EU and Mexico.

Der Rat hat eine Empfehlung zum Neuen Europäischen Bauhaus angenommen, in der die EU-Länder nachdrücklich aufgefordert werden, seine Werte in die nationalen Strategien und Finanzierungsmaßnahmen für eine erschwingliche, auf den Menschen ausgerichtete und partizipative bauliche Umwelt in der gesamten EU einzubetten.

Der Rat hat mit der Verlängerung bestimmter Datenschutzfristen endgültig grünes Licht für neue Vorschriften über Biozide gegeben. Die neue Verordnung ist Teil des sogenannten „Omnibus X“-Gesetzgebungspakets im Rahmen der Vereinfachungsagenda der EU.

Der Rat hat eine Verordnung angenommen, mit der der Anwendungsbereich des Europäischen Fonds für die Anpassung an die Globalisierung auf die Unterstützung von Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer, die von einem unmittelbar bevorstehenden Personalabbau betroffen sind, ausgeweitet werden soll.

Ahead of Europe Day 2026, President of the European Council António Costa signed an opinion piece reflecting on our common European project and the importance of multilateralism.

On 9 May, Europeans will celebrate Europe Day. This year marks the 76th  anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for the European Union as we know it today, and led to an unprecedented era of peace, democracy, prosperity, integration and cooperation across the continent.
