EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen erklärte am heutigen Donnerstag, "es könnte eine Dynamik geben", um die Beziehungen der EU zu den USA zu verbessern.

From 24 to 27 February, eight Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs visited Ankara and Mardin (Turkey), the first AFET mission to Turkey since March 2015.
This timely visit allowed the Members to gauge the prospects of EU-Turkey relations and assess the situation on the ground regarding the rule of law and fundamental freedoms, the Kurdish conflict and the EU's support to Syrian refugees in Turkey, ahead of the upcoming annual report on Turkey. The delegation met with high-level representatives of the Turkish government, including Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the opposition, parliamentarians and civil society representatives.

Die EU-Kommission hat mitgeteilt, dass der Zugverkehr im Jahr 2021 als Teil des europäischen Green Deals besondere Aufmerksamkeit und Unterstützung erhalten soll.

Der jüngste Entwurf der "Farm to Fork"-Strategie sieht vor, dass verbindliche Ziele für die Reduzierung des Einsatzes und des Risikos von Pestiziden festgelegt werden. Dafür soll aber der umstrittene "Harmonisierte Risikoindikator 1" verwendet werden.

Die EU-Kommission will in ihrer Klimastrateige alle Treibhausgase, die für die globale Erwärmung verantwortlich sind (und nicht nur Kohlendioxid) betrachten, betonte Frans Timmermans gestern. Damit reagierte er auf vorherige Kritik der Umweltaktivistin Greta Thunberg.

Heute u.a. mit dabei: Viktor Orbán fühlt sich in seiner harten Haltung gegen Migration bestätigt, Bodo Ramelow wird erneut Ministerpräsident Thüringens, und der Coronavirus ist jetzt auch in Polen und Ungarn aufgetreten. 

Die EU hat der Türkei mit Blick auf die angespannte Lage an der Grenze zu Griechenland einen Missbrauch der Krise zu politischen Zwecken vorgeworfen. Die EU weise das Vorgehen Ankaras entschieden zurück, erklärten die EU-Innenminister am Mittwochabend nach einem Sondertreffen in Brüssel.

European Council President Charles Michel met President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara and discussed the migration situation at EU's borders and the crisis in Syria.
