Highlights - Public Hearing on collective security in the GULF - Committee on Foreign Affairs

On 27 May, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence will hold an online hearing "Collective security in the GULF". The recent tensions in the Middle East, as well as frequent attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia or series of oil tankers detentions in the Strait of Hormuz, have contributed to a worsening of security situation in the region.
While de-escalation is key, the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council have significant influence on the stability of the region, where 20% of the global oil supply flows transit. The hearing will aim at evaluating the security situation in the Gulf region while analysing the possibilty of setting up a regional security mechanism.

Hearings - Public Hearing on collective security in the GULF - 27-05-2021 - Committee on Foreign Affairs

On 27 May, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence will hold an online hearing "Collective security in the GULF". Highlights - AFET debate with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan - Committee on Foreign Affairs

On 26 May, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will welcome Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. The debate will address the multitude areas of cooperation between the EU and Pakistan, based on the 5-year Strategic Engagement Plan signed in 2019. Political and security issues, governance, human rights, migration, trade and energy, and regional and global affairs will likely be in the focus of the discussion.
