The Russian military is increasingly using so-called kamikaze drones in its attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. These unmanned weapons equipped with warheads are purportedly being supplied by Iran, although Tehran denies it. Europe's press warns of the consequences of Russian-Iranian cooperation, also for the Middle East conflict.

Tens of thousands of people, including left-wing politician Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux, took to the streets of Paris on Sunday to demand higher pay, price brakes, an excess profits tax and more climate protection measures. The oil refinery workers' strikes also continue unabated. The government is now resorting to measures that are usually only applied in the event of natural disasters or war to force the strikers back to work.

Just six weeks after being sworn in as British prime minister, Liz Truss is facing a revolt within her own party: according to media reports more than a hundred Conservative Party MPs want to push through her resignation with a vote of no confidence. In a bid to avoid this Truss dismissed Kwasi Kwarteng as Chancellor of the Exchequer and replaced him with Jeremy Hunt. The press is not impressed.
