Debate: Sánchez aiming for a left-wing governing coalition

Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has presented his government programme. He has made substantial concessions to the left-wing Podemos party to get them to form a coalition with his Socialist Workers' party. The election winner is also hoping that several partially separatist regional parties will abstain. If he falls short of the majority he needs, new elections may have to be called. Can this end well?

Just a few days before the new prime minister takes over in Downing Street the government in London is considering sanctions against Iran after it seized the British tanker Stena Impero in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. The Iranians were apparently retaliating after the confiscation of an Iranian tanker that allegedly breached EU sanctions against Syria. How should London react?

Exit polls indicate that the party of President Voldymyr Zelensky has won a clear victory in Ukraine's parliamentary elections, securing around 42 percent of the vote. Zelensky has been unable to do much since taking office in May because his party was not represented in the Rada, which is why he called the elections. How much leeway will he have now?
