European Council President Charles Michel addressed the presse together with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on the main topics of his visit to Georgia: the strength of the EU partnership, EU support in fighting the COVID pandemic and the current political crisis.

The Council prolonged until 28 February 2022 the existing sanctions against high-level officials and entities responsible for the violent repression and intimidation of peaceful demonstrators, members of the opposition and journalists in Belarus.

The EU issued a declaration reiterating its strong commitment to and continued support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and expressing its deep concern about Iran’s decision to suspend the provisional application of the Additional Protocol as well as additional transparency provisions as of 23 February 2021.
