Der Rat hat Schlussfolgerungen gebilligt, in denen er die strategische Bedeutung von Wasser für die nachhaltige Entwicklung unterstreicht und das diplomatische Engagement der EU im Bereich Wasser als Instrument für Frieden, Sicherheit und Stabilität bekräftigt. Er ruft dazu auf, das Thema Wasser im auswärtigen Handeln der EU und in den Agenden der Vereinten Nationen im Einklang mit dem Nachhaltigkeitsziel Nr. 6 weiter zu stärken.

Die EU hat eine Erklärung abgegeben, wonach sie die Durchführung des Tests einer bodengestützten kinetischen Antisatellitenwaffe durch die Russische Föderation, der gegen deren eigenen Satelliten COSMOS 1408 gerichtet war und zu seiner Zerstörung durch einen Flugkörper geführt hat, als einen Akt unverantwortlichen Verhaltens im Weltraum aufs Schärfste verurteilt.
