Im Jahr 2021 haben die EU und ihre Mitgliedstaaten 23,04 Mrd. € aus öffentlichen Quellen für die Klimaschutzfinanzierung bereitgestellt, um Entwicklungsländer bei der Verringerung ihrer Treibhausgasemissionen und der Anpassung an die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels zu unterstützen.

A meeting took place in Tashkent between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and European Council President Charles Michel. They reaffirmed that in recent years the relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union have been elevated to a qualitatively new level.

The third CELAC-EU Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in Buenos Aires on 27 October 2022, with the theme "Renewing the bi-regional partnership to strengthen peace and sustainable development".

The Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement on stricter CO2 emission performance standards for new cars and vans. Pending a formal adoption, the co-legislators agreed to a 55% CO2 emission reduction target for new cars and 50% for new vans by 2030 compared to 2021 levels and to a 100% CO2 emission reduction target for both new cars and vans by 2035.

President Michel attended the first regional high-level meeting, held in Astana, together with the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together for peace and security and stressed the importance of cooperation on sustainable connectivity.

During his first visit to Kazakhstan, President Michel held a joint press conference with President Tokayev highlighting their wide-ranging discussion on the common challenges at this critical juncture.

European Council President Charles Michel and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Astana where they confirmed the high level and dynamic development of relations between Kazakhstan and the EU over the past 30 years. They agreed to further strengthen, deepen and expand the Kazakh-EU multifaceted cooperation.

Der Rat hat heute eine Einigung (allgemeine Ausrichtung) über einen Vorschlag zur Überarbeitung der Richtlinie über die Gesamtenergieeffizienz von Gebäuden erzielt. Die Hauptziele der Überarbeitung bestehen darin, dass alle neuen Gebäude spätestens 2030 Nullemissionsgebäude sein sollten und dass bestehende Gebäude bis 2050 in Nullemissionsgebäude umgebaut werden sollten.

Der Rat hat Schlussfolgerungen gebilligt, die als allgemeines Verhandlungsmandat der EU für die 27. Konferenz der Vereinten Nationen über Klimaänderungen (COP 27) im November 2022 in Scharm El-Scheich (Ägypten) dienen werden.

The Council today approved conclusions in view of the conference of parties for the United Nations Biodiversity summit to be held in Montreal, Canada, from 7 to 19 December 2022. The conclusions will serve as the EU’s general negotiating position in the meeting.
