The EU issued a declaration on the elections in Tanzania noting with regret some irregularities and encouraging an open, constructive and inclusive in the country.

Council adopts a recommendation for more inclusive measures to boost youth employment

EU leaders met via video conference and discussed the need to strengthen the collective effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. They focused on testing and tracing policies, and on vaccines. Leaders also addressed the terrorist attacks in France and the relations with Turkey.

President Charles Michel called an informal leaders' video conference on 29 October 2020 to focus on COVID-19. EU heads of state or government will discuss the need to strengthen the collective effort to fight the pandemic.

The Council presidency has reached an agreement with the European Parliament on a revised enforcement regulation.

This EU-Canada leaders' video conference will be the first joint meeting involving the new EU leadership and PM Trudeau since his re-election and the bilateral summit held in July 2019.

The EU is working on temporary rules to allow providers of web-based email, messaging services and internet telephony to continue detecting child sexual abuse online, until permanent legislation is adopted.
