Weekly schedule of President Charles Michel 23-29 May 2022

European Council President Charles Michel hosted President Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia in Brussels. They focused their discussions on the situation in the South Caucasus and the development of EU relations with both countries as well as the broader region.

President Michel held meetings with the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency and political Leaders. They agreed to convene a meeting in Brussels in the next weeks to work upon a roadmap setting out the priority reforms and the political agreements needed to reinvigorate the EU path for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Michel met with Šefik Džaferović, Željko Komšić and Milorad Dodik, members of the Presidency. They discussed how to give momentum to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European perspective.

A Tanács keretében működő Állandó Képviselők Bizottsága a mai napon tárgyalási megbízást fogadott el a CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation – a nemzetközi légi közlekedés kibocsátáskompenzációs és -csökkentési rendszere) kibocsátáskompenzációs követelményeivel kapcsolatos értesítési kötelezettségről szóló határozati javaslatra vonatkozóan.

President Michel continued his Western Balkan trip with a visit to Albania, where he emphasised the EU's firm commitment to Albania's accession path. President Michel also thanked Albania for standing united with the EU in the support to Ukraine.

On 23-25 May, six MEPs of the Civil Liberties Committee will assess progress in the investigations, trials, and reforms that followed the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

During the first part of his Western Balkan visit, President Michel, speaking in Serbia, reaffirmed the EU's full commitment to the country’s accession negotiations. He added that the EU is counting on Serbia’s support to help end Russia’s war in Ukraine. President Michel also visited the Belgrade Science-Technology Park.

The co-legislators reached a provisional agreement on the single window for customs proposal which will make international trade easier, shorten customs clearance times and reduce the risk of fraud.

A főképviselőnek az Európai Unió nevében tett nyilatkozata egyes harmadik országoknak a Koreai Népi Demokratikus Köztársasággal szembeni korlátozó intézkedésekről szóló (KKBP) 2016/849 határozat módosításáról szóló, 2022. április 21-i (KKBP) 2022/661 tanácsi határozathoz történő csatlakozásáról.

A Tanács és az Európai Parlament között a gáztárolásról szóló jogszabályról létrejött ideiglenes politikai megállapodás révén a mai napon fontos lépés történt az EU ellátásbiztonságának az ukrajnai háborúval összefüggésben történő javítása érdekében. A rendeletjavaslat azt hivatott biztosítani, hogy az EU feltöltött készletekkel várhassa a téli időszakot, valamint hogy a tagállamok e készleteket a szolidaritás jegyében meg tudják osztani egymással.
